PDP Crisis: Samuel Anyanwu Insists He’s the Authentic National Secretary
Written by Crown FM on January 10, 2025
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing fresh internal turmoil as two chieftains, Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye, both lay claim to the position of National Secretary.
The crisis intensified following a Court of Appeal judgment in December 2024, which ruled in favor of Ude-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary.
The appeal court, in its verdict delivered on December 20 by Justice Ridwan Abdullahi, dismissed a previous high court ruling that had blocked Anyanwu’s removal, declaring it “lacking in merit.”
Subsequently, Ude-Okoye began parading himself as the party’s scribe, with the PDP officially affirming his position. However, Anyanwu has contested this development, insisting during a Thursday interview on a current affairs program that he remains the authentic secretary.
Anyanwu revealed that he has appealed the Court of Appeal’s judgment at the Supreme Court. Additionally, he filed for a stay of execution on the same day the appellate court delivered its ruling.
As the matter awaits a Supreme Court decision, the PDP remains in a leadership tussle, deepening divisions within the party
