Court Grants DSS 60 Days to Detain Suspected Terrorists in Osun

In a decisive move against terrorism, the Federal High Court in Abuja has authorized the Department of State Services (DSS) to detain ten suspected members of Boko Haram/ISWAP for 60 days. The suspects were reportedly planning to establish a terrorist cell in Osun State.
Justice Emeka Nwite approved the motion filed by DSS counsel Y.I. Umar, describing it as meritorious. The suspects, arrested on December 16, 2024, in Ilesa East Local Government Area, include Adamu Abubakar (aka Abu Aisha), Babagana Bashuli, Muhammed Adam, and others.
DSS personnel, in sworn affidavits, revealed that releasing the suspects could jeopardize efforts to apprehend other group members. The court adjourned the case until March 3 for mention, emphasizing the critical nature of ongoing investigations.
This development underscores the government’s commitment to combating terrorism and safeguarding national security.
